Among the Dead is DONE!

Among the Dead is DONE! The sequel to Among the Living has taken my much longer to write than I had ever thought possible. No joke, I have been working on this thing, off and on, for close to two years. A few things have gotten in the way - Read more

A Dance With Dragons Review by Timothy W. Long

I dig Martin. I think he writes some amazing books. The first three Ice and Fire books are novels I will enjoy for years to come. That being said this book left a bitter taste in my mouth. There was some good Martin here but every time the story Read more

Dead of Night by Jonathan Mayberry Review

Jonathan Mabbery is not only a terrific writer, he is a really nice guy. I met him at zomBcon 2011 and got a copy of this book from him. First of all. If you are expecting a rampaging tale of zombies run amok. Undead eating people, lots of gore, interesting Read more

Among the Dead
is DONE!

The sequel to Among the Living has taken my much longer to write than I had ever thought possible. No joke, I have been working on this thing, off and on, for close to two years. A few things have gotten in the way – like a new book called Beyond the Barriers. Also, the contract on Among the Living expired but I was lucky to get the book (and sequel) picked up by the amazing Permuted Press.

At a zombie themed convention in Seattle, I was lucky enough to be part of a panel focused on zombies and post-apocalyptic literature. One of the questions asked was: “In the event of a true zombie apocalypse, a loved one is bitten and turns into one of the walking dead, what would you do?”

I dig Martin. I think he writes some amazing books. The first three Ice and Fire books are novels I will enjoy for years to come. That being said this book left a bitter taste in my mouth. There was some good Martin here but every time the story circled to Daenerys I wanted to take a nap, instead I skimmed chapters. There was a point, about 2/3rds in, where I just about jumped up because such an amazing scene happened. Then the book when back to MEH-land. The place where Martin seems to have become quite comfortable over the last few years.

A birthday story for Jonathan Moon

So my friend Jon was about to have a birthday. I know, big deal, right? Maybe it’s not important to you but he’s my friend so just fuck off with your attitude.

Anyway. I got him this dog named Spot. Spot was cute in a fresh from the pound way. You know, dopey eyes, big chompers, droopy ears, and a brown eye. The other was green.  Read more

A Serbian Film Review

I was preparing for a panel on extreme movies for Crypticon when a thought hit me. Why go half ass when I can go full boar? I decided to take the plunge and investigate what is arguably the most disturbing movie to come out in recent years. A film so reviled that it has been banned at film festivals and the director, Srdjan Spasojevic, has been accused of sexual crimes in his own country of Serbia.

A Serbian Film automatically gets scowls from most people when mentioned. Even some horror and gore hounds have claimed they never intend to see this movie because of the extreme subject matter. Read more

Dead Snow Review

Dead snow is one of the greatest zombie movies I have ever seen. Now that I have that off my chest, here is my quick review.

Dead Snow is a foreign film that was shot in the mountains near Øksfjord, Norway.

The film has sub titles and I did not watch a dubbed version. It is about a group of medical students that are bound for a cabin 45 minutes away from the place they part their car. They never mention how far it is, probably owing to the fact that they measure in metric and didn’t want to confuse American audiences with all that ‘divisible by 10′ mumbo jumbo.  Read more
